SuperTin Stainless Steel Container with Clips

SuperTin

Regular price $25

Looking for a way to travel with Block Docks and Bars? Meet our SuperTin!

Length 15cm, Width 8cm, Height 5cm

Specifically designed and made for us in India, this secure closure tin is the perfect size for 2 Block Docks with bars. If you use square bars, you'll have a little room left over for extras. If you have a rectangular bars, the SuperTin fits one rectangular and one square. Of course, if you're travelling, the smartest option is to cut the bars to the size you need for your duration and combine them into two wide Block Docks.

The SuperTin weighs around 300 grams. If you are a frequent air traveller, I recommend you combine it with the Aluminium Block Docks to achieve the lightest weight overall. Traveling without liquids is so much easier, especially when you're carry on only (and who wants to pay for check-in luggage?!).

The SuperTin is not leakproof, but it is securely closed with clips that force the lid tight. Given how fast the Block Dock dries your bar, by the time you get it into the SuperTin for travel it won't have any residue to leak. For easy suction cup release from the tin, consider sticking them to the lid and locking from upside down.

Do you know what else the SuperTin is good for?  Snacks. Takeaways (keep it upright). Dry goods at the refill store or supermarket (and wet goods if you keep it right way up!). It's a great size for just enough of everything. It exactly fits 2 cups of uncooked rice FYI.

And it's hardwearing as anything. Fridge, freezer, in the open air, inside, outside...it's good for everywhere. Happy as a clam in the dishwasher too.

Drop me a note in your order if you want the TARE weight added to your SuperTin with a sticky label so fill-your-own purchasing is easier. Or if you want a particular label on it, I can do that too for free. Name? Return to address? Ingredient?

The SuperTin is also good for just lying about in your everywhere - looking stylish as! It loves to do this in multiples

Lastly, you'll be glad to know that branding is on the bottom of the SuperTin, so you won't have to see it. Mirrored stainless looks best kept nude, we think. Don't you?

  • How to Get the Best From Your Block Dock & Bars (DEFO read)

    Kia ora

Thanks for being part of the seachange that is switching from single use plastics to using Block Docks with solid bars. Whether you bought one for yourself or received as a gift, below is some information that's useful to know in order to get a lifetime's great use from your Block Dock and more life from every bar you store in it.

The Block Dock Vertical Soap Dish as an evergreen solution made in New Zealand in either 304 stainless steel or in powdercoated aluminium (depending which one you have). If yours is very light to hold and coloured, it's aluminium. Both are designed for bathroom conditions and will stay in tip top condition if you wipe the Block Dock clean from time to time (by finger or cloth, it's your choice) and dry it off completely on occasion (weekly is good for Stainless Steel).

The stainless steel Block Docks are dishwasher safe (sans suction cup). Better to keep the aluminium out of the dishwasher though - it's not designed for in there. Both kinds of Block Docks are 100% recyclable at end of life, though not the suction cup sadly. That said, it will keeping suctioning for a very long time!

    Block Dock Placement

Water is the mortal enemy of soap. So, to make sure your bar lasts and lasts, pick a location to suction your Block Dock which is outside the direct water spray. For example, above and to the side of the shower head - but still reachable. Where you can, wet yourself then use your dry bar straight from the Block Dock. It doesn't need extra time under water. Pop it back in your Dock to drain.

In basins and sinks find a spot inside the bowl at the back near the faucet but not in direct line of the water. This placement keeps your surfaces clear and makes washing your hands clean and simple.

    The Suction Cup

Each Block Dock is shipped with one 52mm pvc suction cup.

While the Block Dock can stand upright on any flat surface, it does its best 'no-mess' work when side mounted on non-textured walls with its suction cup.

It WILL adhere to glass, acrylic, vitreous china, steel, most smooth tiles, and mirror.

It will NOT adhere to textured tiles, paint etc because the suction cup cannot form the vacuum it needs to work. If your glass has been coated with water stain protectant, it's not likely to suction to that either unfortunately.

Ready to attach the Block Dock? You need to know this:

Wipe the surface* you intend to adhere the Block Dock to. Wet the back of the suction cup with water and press hard on the centre 'nob' of the suction cup where you want it stay. Give the rest of the suction cup a press against the surface if it hasn't already made itself at home. Then slip your Block Dock onto it, pulling the Dock down so the nob fits tight in the top part of the 'keyhole'. For most situations, it's as easy as this! When you want to change the location just lift the small tag and the suction will break.

*For some surfaces you'll be best to use isopropyl alcohol on the wall surface and the back of the suction cup before attaching as above.

Some surfaces can take a little more time and need The Layering Method. If you put your Block Dock up and it stays for a while then falls, this is probably the case for you. Simply attach the suction cup as above but leave it for a few hours or overnight by itself. After the time passes, slot the Block Dock onto the suction cup through the keyhole - so the nob is tight in the top section. Give that a little time by itself as well, and after you know it will stay put add your bar and you're away laughing.

If your surface won't suction (e.g. textured tiles, paint) the simplest option is to suction to the nearest glass or to stand then upright on a shelf. But there are other ways....

Most Block Docks have two additional multipurpose holes in the back - for threading a cable tie (best option for a tight fit), stainless wire, ribbon or whatever you have through so you can tie it to your shower rail or some other fixture in the event the suction cup just won't work on your surfaces. I've also had success hanging it from the hook on my shower curtain if your shower is old school like mine. Alternatively you could try a 3M wet/dry strip available at Storage Box or a hardware store or, if your surface allows it, a suitably sized flat head screw through the keyhole or smaller screws through the multipurpose holes in the back.

To remove the suction cup just lift the small tag on the edge to break the vacuum.

If you have a Shower Dome, you'll want to give your bars some time outside the shower to harden because the volume of moisture inside the cubicle is higher than a normal shower. Constant moisture is an enemy of bars and the shower dome environment can be brutal if your bars don't get some time in the fresh air. It's fine to keep your Block Docks and bars in your shower, but not all the time - and it depends on how many showers are taken each day in your house. I highly recommend relocating them every few days for a breather! You'll be able see when you need to move them I'm sure. Your Block Docks will adhere to the outside of your shower, so I'd recommend you grab an extra suction cup to put in your preferred 'fresh air' location. The you just need move the Block Dock and bar to that place now and again rather than the whole process of suction cup install.

Your efforts to reduce plastic waste by switching out all your products in bottles to replacements in solid bars will be 200% worth it - for your own experience and for our planet. I created the Block Dock to make this both easy and rewarding for you (and me) and I'd love to know how it goes for you. When you're ready, please pop onto www.theblockdock.co.nz and leave a review or head to FB, Insta and Pinterest (all @theblockdock) to do the same there too.

I wish you happy times with your Block Dock and bars.

    OUR PACKAGING

Like the product, its packaging is simple and sensible.

After the Stainless Steel Block Docks arrive South from our New Zealand manufacturer I engage the services of the crew at Southland disAbility Enterprises to make their final preparations for sale. The team do a great job, and I really love being able to support them in my own small way. Very occasionally something might go awry. In that instance just drop me a note and I'll sort it. Each Stainless Steel Block Dock gets matched with a suction cup, wrapped in paper and packed in an embossed kraft box (no printing). Wherever possible I fit two Block Docks in each box. If you need one per box please state in the order notes.

Aluminium Block Docks (the coloured ones) come nude (no wrapping) in the box with a suction cup. The wrapping has no real duty since they have a very hard-wearing surface and won't scratch each other when there's two in a box - which there will be unless requested otherwise in the order notes. If you need them wrapped inside note that too, otherwise everything comes nude.

The Block Dock box is designed to cope with some moisture so you can use it as storage for quick trips if you like (bearing in mind it won't stand up to those rigours forever).

The Block Dock box(es) come to you in a certified home compostable trackpak sized to suit. Our labels aren't yet compostable unfortunately - so they need to be cut from the trackpak before composting it. We get our bags from R3Pack and they have the icon for Home Compostable AS5810 ABAP20001 on them. They are plastic free and cannot be recycled. If you don't have a home compost system, please can you ask a friend or neighbour who does.

Only your products will be in your shipment. All other information is on the website and you are welcome to email me with questions and feedback. Your order will be confirmed by email and its shipping info will be notified (tracked in NZ but not tracked in standard shipping for Australia).

Our supporting information is easily accessed online so please check it out - before and again after you buy if you need to.

Great Tin

I like the secure clips which are easy to manage. Last weekend I took the two duo soap containers (block docks) inside and they fitted well inside and I could find the tin easily in my bag.

Brilliant

I absolutely love the two I bought as a trial and have now bought 6 more to give to family. The soap stays nice and dry. The dock is super quick and easy to clean under the tap which hardly ever needs doing anyway. Suction cup works perfectly.

Holder is great but the suction cup not so much

Good stars for the aluminium body but the suction cup sucks. Or rather it doesn’t suck for much or long so everything falls off the wall with 12 hours or so. No stars for that and it really needs an upgrade I think.

Hi Val, I've sent you an email with the 'if your surface won't suction' information and some other options for hanging your Block Dock. If your wall is textured or porous the suction cup can't form the vacuum it needs to work. I think you'll find a solution within the info. Best, Clare

I absolutely love my 3 Block Docks!
Kitchen, 2 in the Shower and 1 in the Bathroom sink.
So clean, soap in one shampoo bar in other, they are dry and lasting for ages and ages and ages!,
Brilliant product I know what I will be buying for presents!
I have one in the kitchen sink for my hands, the sink is rarely that full and bench is clear of plastic hand wash container.

Great product

Save the planet - use bars instead of bottles and use the dock to get the most out of your bars - well done - great product!!

Great holder

Was a bit hesitant about the price but I’m saving so much soap that it’s completely worth it.
